The Night I Heard Celestial Music

It was one of those magical moments when everything felt perfect.

I was on the beautiful island of Kauai in the Hawaiian Islands, studying Crystal Healing, and was bathing in a hot wooden Jacuzzi with my crystal healing buddy, Maggie.

It was a moonless night, and a light rain was falling. We had crystals all around the Jacuzzi and candles in the four corners. I felt very light and centred as I relaxed and floated in the warm water.

Everyone else had retired for the evening and we were able to completely merge ourselves with the elements and the crystal energy.

Unexpectedly, I heard music.

At first, I thought someone must have turned on a radio because I could hear these amazing sounds. It sounded like a choir, beautifully harmonious and yet different from anything I had ever heard before.

Then I heard the sounds again.

I knew that others had spoken of hearing celestial music, but this was the first time I had experienced anything like it myself. It felt like a thousand voices were singing, reaching back into the heavens, layer upon layer. I felt I had been given a beautiful gift at that moment and simply marvelled at the experience.

I have always felt a very strong heart connection to the Angelic Kingdom, and that magical night on Kauai became a precious part of my own spiritual journey.

Searching for the sound again

The experience stayed with me and afterwards I searched through different music, hoping I might find something that reminded me of those extraordinary sounds.

Eventually, I discovered Iasos, a Greek-born American composer and pioneer of New Age music who also spoke of hearing what he called “paradise music.”

His beautiful pieces Angel Play and The Angels of Comfort came closest to reminding me of the celestial sounds I had experienced on Kauai.

It is not that the music is exactly what I heard that night, but something within its sound takes me back to that experience.

The journey that brought me to Kauai

My love and passion for Vibrational Medicine began many years earlier, in 1970, when I obtained my first qualification in Complementary Therapies and worked as a Massage Therapist.

Over the years, I added other healing modalities and worked in osteopathic and naturopathic clinics to help me through university. After obtaining a degree in English Literature, I worked for 12 years managing a training centre for unemployed and specially disadvantaged people, adding a postgraduate degree in Communication Management along the way.

In the early 1990s, I developed a fascination and interest in working with the healing power of crystals. This eventually led me to Kauai to study Crystal Healing.

I returned to the island many times to complete the different levels of training and graduated as a Crystal Healing Teacher in 1995. On one of my visits, I was also initiated into the beautiful vibration of Reiki Master.

In a number of different ways, I felt I was being opened to higher frequencies and vibrations. I was taking more responsibility for my spiritual evolution and listening to my spirit more and more.

My guidance was to teach and share my passion and knowledge with others. I could not have known then just how important sound was going to become in my life.

Then came the crystal bowls

The year was 1997. I had been teaching Crystal Healing and Reiki for a few years when I heard about the transforming qualities of quartz crystal in a form that was completely new to me.

They were crystal bowls.

They looked like different-sized salad bowls, ranging from 5.5 inches to 24 inches in diameter, and they made the most amazing sound.

They were played as musical instruments in a way similar to Tibetan metal bowls and created a sound that was described as the purest tone in the world.

The quartz crystal bowls are made from silica ~ a pure quartz, sand-like substance. Originally produced primarily for the computer industry as a medium for growing silicon quartz chips, the bowls are formed by centrifugal action as the silica is dropped into a spinning mould and subjected to extremely high temperatures.

The bowls are tuned to the diatonic musical scale ~ C, D, E, F, G, A and B ~ with each note resonating in particular with one of the seven chakras, or power centres, in the body. It was also possible to buy a chromatic set of bowls, which included all the sharps.

A couple of years later, the extraordinary Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls came into my life, also through Crystal Tones, the creators of these divine singing bowls. Their beautiful combinations of quartz crystal with precious metals, minerals and gemstones added a richness and depth to the sound that, for me, can truly be described as ethereal voices of Light.

The vibration of sound

The human body and its subtle energy field, like all things everywhere in the universe, are in a continuous state of vibratory motion.

By understanding that all matter is energy, it becomes easier to understand the effects of crystal on the human body and on the electromagnetic field surrounding each person.

As the pure tone of crystal resonates throughout the body, it can feel like a delicate internal massage of the cells. I believe that as the vibrations from the crystal bowls create sympathetic resonance within us, disharmony held within the body can move towards a more harmonious state — our natural state of being.

Listening to the voice inside my heart

In 1998, I decided to listen to the voice inside my heart, which had been telling me for some time to make my Energy Healing work the main focus of my life.

My pathway led me to Italy, where I combined training with crystal bowls in Sicily with teaching Crystal Healing in Sardinia, Sicily, Tuscany and Torino. What an amazing journey. So much to learn, such a lot to share.

And so my work with the sounds of healing began.

Looking back, that beautiful night on Kauai remains very clear in my memory ~ floating in the warm water on a moonless night, a light rain falling, crystals and candlelight surrounding us, and hearing those extraordinary sounds for the first time.

Others have had their own experiences of celestial music.

This was simply mine.

It was a beautiful and unexpected moment in my journey, and one I have treasured ever since.
