For more than 30 years, Susie Nelson-Smith has walked the sacred path of sound and spirit, offering a deeply intuitive and pioneering approach to vibrational healing. As one of the earliest teachers of Crystal Sound Therapy in Australia, her work weaves together the crystalline tones of alchemy bowls with the energetic wisdom of crystals and gems, guiding others into states of balance, alignment, and soul remembrance.
A respected teacher, author, and founder of The Crystal and Sound Academy (previously known as The Karyna Centre for Transformation and The Crystal Sound and Light Institute), Susie has spent decades developing accredited training programs that honour the heart and spirit as much as the mind. Her courses — from Certificate II to Diploma level — are immersive journeys into the healing potential of sound, rooted in ceremony, nature, and sacred listening. And now she has developed a training program to teach teachers Crystal Therapy with crystals and gems.
Susie doesn’t teach from textbooks. She teaches from lived experience. Her offerings are shaped by years of spiritual practice, global teaching, and deep attunement to the Mineral Kingdom. Whether holding space in a forest workshop, guiding a sound meditation beside ancient temples, or mentoring students on their practitioner path, Susie brings warmth, clarity, and authenticity to every encounter.
At the heart of her work is a simple truth: that healing happens when we return to resonance with the Earth, with ourselves, and with the subtle frequencies that speak to our soul.

1984, 1991: Academic - BA in English Literature, History and Philosophy (Macquarie Uni); Post Graduate Diploma in Communication Management (UTS)
1984 - 2025: Established Healing Centre and Academy - the Karyna Centre for Transformation ~ the Crystal Sound and Light Institute ~ The Crystal and Sound Academy
1992, 1994, 1995: Complementary: Diploma in Aromatherapy (Sydney) ; Reiki Teacher (Hawaii); Diploma in Crystal Healing Teacher (Hawaii)
1995: Developed and began teaching the Crystal Vibrational Therapy (CVT) Certificate IV program
1998 - 2025: Performer, Practitioner, Teacher with Crystal Singing Bowls
1998, 1999: Taught Crystal Healing in Italy - Sicily, Tuscany, Torino, Longiano
2000: Developed and began teaching the Crystal Sound Therapy (CST) Certificate IV program
2004: CST and CVT programs became accredited through the International Energetic Healing Association
2005 - 2010: Travelling Troubadour Tours with crystal bowls, teaching and performing from MIssion Beach in Qld to Bruny Island in Tasmania, Australia
2008 - 2025: International teaching and performing around the world - Bali, Cambodia, USA, Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico, UK, Japan, Wales, Germany
2018: Published "One Heart Affirmations" book
2023: Co-founded the Amazing Grace Crystal Sound Temple in Siem Reap, Cambodia
2024: Launched Certificate II CST performance-based course and prepared for the 3rd Global Crystal Bowl Symposium
2025: International teaching in Wales, UK, Germany and Austria, and preparing for the Global Crystal Bowl Symposium 4 in 2026.
Blue Mountains Crystal Sound Temple in Katoomba
At the heart of Katoomba in the Blue Mountains, Susie has created a sanctuary for sound and soul - a cosy, light-filled space where crystal bowls sing, energy realigns, and deep listening begins. The Crystal and Sound Temple is a sacred environment for one-on-one sessions, mentoring, and intimate group work with the Alchemy Crystal Singing Bowls and the Mineral Kingdom.
The Crystal and Sound Academy
Alongside this, The Crystal and Sound Academy is the home of Susie’s accredited training programs and sacred offerings. It is through the Academy that Susie shares her decades of wisdom, teaching Crystal Sound Therapy and Crystal Healing in immersive, transformative formats that blend heart, science, and spirit.
